Paul Meynen, 6-10 C Redondo Beach (Calif.) Redondo Union, is a promising big man who has shown steady improvement in the last couple years. We spoke with him yesterday about the schools that are showing interest in him.
Paul told us that he has in-home visits scheduled with Pacific (9-11), Santa Clara (9-12), UC Santa Barbara (9-18) and UTEP (9-25). In addition to those visits, Oregon will be coming down to watch him work out this week at his high school.
Paul took an unofficial visit to Illinois a couple weeks ago and we asked him for his thoughts on the trip. "It was great," Paul said. "It's a college town, the staff was great -- it'd be awesome to play at a place like that."
We asked if he planned on signing in the fall and Paul replied, "I'm not sure. Playing at a school like Redondo, I know I'm going to get more exposure during the season. And Coach Self said that you rarely see a big man's stock go down during the year. So I may wait if I don't feel good about the choices I have in fall."
Paul is a good student and he's fully qualified.
