Five-star wing D.J. Harvey has long been one of the most heavily scouted prospects in the 2017 class. Now a junior at DeMatha, Harvey is ready to take his game to even another level, and continues to make major college visits.
“I am definitely working on getting more consistent with my three point shot and then also limiting my turnovers,” explained Harvey. “Those are two areas I have really been working on.”
On the recruiting trail nearly every high profile school in the country has reached out to Harvey, and he has made a handful of recent visits.
“I have been to Notre Dame, Arizona, UCLA, and Duke,” said Harvey. “Those are the places I saw before the season started.”
About Arizona, he said, “It was definitely warm. It was very beautiful and I loved the campus. Coach (Sean) Miller and Coach Book (Richardson) are great guys and I am building a very close relationship with the entire coaching staff.”
There are plenty of DeMatha connections to Notre Dame as coaches Mike Brey and Rod Balanis are alumnus and players such as Jerian Grant attended the school. Now they are hoping to add Harvey to that list.
“It was a fun visit,” Harvey explained. “I knew most of the players through the EYBL circuit. Also the coaches were good and they seemed like great guys.”
He continued about Notre Dame, “The best part was definitely the football game. It wasn’t that cold, and just being in that atmosphere for the football game was great.”
Also Harvey had his eyes opened when he made his trip to Duke.
“I was just in awe,” noted Harvey of the Blue Devils visit. “I grew up watching Duke basketball, and to go down there and talk to Coach K was very fun.”
In August Harvey made his visit to UCLA, and he liked what he saw on the West Coast.
“I went out there for adidas Nations, and then I went to UCLA,” noted Harvey. “It was a very enjoyable visit, and I had a lot of fun.”
For now Harvey isn’t putting a timetable on a decision, and is simply looking to try and gain as much information as possible on his potential destinations.
