2017 wing prospect Naji Marshall certainly raised some eyebrows at the National Hoops Festival his past weekend.
Marshall, a 6-foot-5 wing with a solid build and a long set of arms, went for 21 points on 7-for-17 shooting in a loss to Bishop McNamara at the event.
“I like to get to the rim and finish,” Marshall said after the game. “I missed a few early today, but I kept going to the rim and it paid off.”
“When I’m at my best, I’m getting to the rack and nobody can really stop me,” he added.
With his physical features, versatility and ability to get to the paint, Marshall has upside and college coaches are taking notice.
“It’s going real good,” Marshall said about his recruitment. “I like it. Sometimes it gets annoying, but it’s going real good.”
Marshall currently holds scholarship offers from Manhattan, UMass, VCU, Virginia Tech, Rhode Island and others. Maryland, Xavier, Cincinnati, West Virginia and Memphis are also involved.
To date, Marshall hasn’t taken any college visits.
“It’s kind of on the backburner,” he said. “I’m focused on my season and next year I’m going to Hargrave.”
Marshall plays for Damon Handon and DC Premier on the spring and summer circuit.
