It didn’t take long for a prospect to emerge at the Tarkanian Classic.
2016 prospect Jordan Bowden went for 30 points on 6-for-10 shooting from three, plus added seven rebounds and a trio of assists in an opening round win for Greenville (S.C.) 22 Ft. Academy.
A 6-foot-5 long, wiry wing, Bowden was aggressive when he had chances on the offensive end. He displayed good athleticism, was aggressive with his moves to the basket and showed good shot making ability.
“My shot got me going and that gave me a little boost,” Bowden said following his big showing. “I really wanted to start on defense and then the offense comes.”
“I’m a good shooter,” he added. “I think I play defense real good. I use my length.”
Bowden, a native of Tennessee, played high school basketball at Strawberry (Tenn.) Carver last year and averaged 26 points, 8.9 rebounds and 4.2 assists a game.
“I had a pretty good senior season,” Bowden said. “Actually I really had a good season.”
Bowden, who didn’t play AAU ball during the spring and summer, landed at 22-Foot Academy for his post-graduate season and by all indications, he’s excelling on the court.
Off the court, Bowden has a pair of scholarship offers – Eastern Kentucky and Southern Miss. He also said Duquesne, USC Upstate, LSU, Winthrop, Kansas State and Memphis are showing varying levels of interest.
Bowden said his recruitment is open and he’s yet to take any college visits.
