Four-star power forward Daniel Mading commits to Arizona State

Bobby Hurley and Arizona State picked up their first commitment of the 2017 class, as they added top 100 recruit Daniel Mading.

Four-star power forward Daniel Mading verbally committed to Arizona State and Bobby Hurley on Tuesday, he told Scout.

Mading, a native of Australia, transfered to Jersey City (N.J.) St. Anthony, where Hurley's father coaches, during the offseason. Mading was previously at The Rock School in Gainesville (Fla.).

A host of high major schools were recruiting Mading, including the likes of Florida, UConn, LSU and Kansas.

Mading, who stands 6-foot-8, is regarded as the No. 64 overall prospect and the No. 11 power forward in the 2017 class. Mading is Arizona State's first verbal pledge of the class.

Arizona State assistant Rashon Burno was the point man on the Mading recruitment. Burno began recruiting Mading when he was an assistant at Florida last season.
