Five-star big man Jarrett Allen led Austin (Tex.) St. Stephen’s Episcopal to the Surf N Slam crown late Wednesday evening. Allen, a 6-foot-10 highly touted post player, scored 26 points, including 13 in the third quarter to help catapult his team to victory.
Allen’s offense was impressive, as he scored off multiple right jump hooks, but it was passing that stood out to colleague and Scout National Analyst Josh Gershon.
“Jarrett Allen showed he has taken his game to the next level,” Gershon said. “His touch around the basket along with his footwork were terrific, but nothing he did was more impressive than his passing; he made some absolutely elite passes on Wednesday night.”
“On defense he rebounded and blocked shots. He has good size with big time length and still plenty of filling out to do, which only adds to his upside. He remains an elite prospect in one of the best classes in recent history.”
Allen, who took official visits to Kansas, Kentucky, Houston and Notre Dame in the fall, but opted not to sign early, told Scout following the game that he’s not close to making his college decision.
“It’s back at the beginning,” Allen said.
Allen said he’s considering a total of eight schools. He has one official visit remaining.
