Firmly entrenched in the class of 2017, Nate Watson is moving forward with his game. The interior prospect is having a very strong junior season for Bishop O’Connell and at the recent Slam Dunk to the Beach event he was extremely impressive.
“It is going good,” said Watson of his season. “I think I am playing okay, but I have to work on my finesse game a little bit. I know I have to improving ball handling, facing up, and my jump shot.”
Despite working on his finesse game, Watson knows his bread and butter is down low and he uses his big body well. That ability to dominate down low has a wide ranging amount of interest coming his way.
“Xavier, West Virginia, Georgetown, Maryland, St. Joseph’s, New Mexico, Clemson, Georgia Tech, USC, Villanova, and some others,” said Watson of his recruitment.
So far the only school he has really had a chance to see for games is Georgetown, and Watson has been impressed with what he saw.
“They are saying they like me, and I like how they play because they use their big men a lot, and I want to go to a school like that.
Another school that has been very active in recruiting Watson is Xavier, and he feels he could do good things at the Big East school.
“They are just saying that they really like me, and that I could have a really good future there,” said Watson.
Also the local Maryland Terrapins have picked things up recently with Watson and are very intrigued with his game.
“Maryland is close to home and I like the coaching staff, so I am very interested in them,” said Watson.
At this point Watson is taking his recruiting fairly slow, but he does want to make some visits during the spring.
When asked who he plans on visiting, Watson said, “I want to visit Clemson, Xavier, Georgetown, Maryland, and Georgia Tech.”
