In the class of 2018 there aren’t a ton of wings on the East Coast with more long term potential than Brandon Slater. Playing on a loaded high school team Slater only plays as a role player, but he is already opening eyes and pulling in some big time offers.
“I am playing pretty good,” said Slater of the season. “We started slow as a team, but we have picked it back up.”
He continued, “I am definitely working on my jump shot, my decision making, and things like that.”
On the recruiting trail things are really picking up for Slater who has a major list of schools showing him significant attention.
“I’ve been hearing from Louisville, Georgetown, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Temple, USC, and a few others,” said Slater.
Recently Slater received an offer from Louisville, and he says that was a big deal.
“It was great to get the Louisville offer,” said Slater. “We came there with V.J. (King) and it just happened and it felt good. V.J. is kind of like a big brother to me, so we talk about Louisville a lot.”
Also the Maryland Terrapins have been a major factor in recruiting Slater, and it is a program he has always followed.
“They are definitely the hometown team and the team I always followed growing up,” noted Slater. “We talk a lot and it is good to hear from them so much.”
Another local school, Georgetown, is also showing significant interest, and Slater is very interested in the program.
“They are definitely my style of play,” said Slater of the Hoyas. “They fit how I like to play, and it is good to talk to them with them being close to home.”
Don’t look for any kind of quick decision from Slater who is entertaining all options and trying to learn as much as he can about each program.
