Pac-12 school picking it up with 2018 Arizona post K.J. Hymes

K.J. Hymes is one of the top prospects in the state of Arizona and has several offers accordingly. The 2018 prospect says that a Pac-12 school has picked up its recruitment of him.

One of the west’s most heavily recruited posts in 2018 is K.J. Hymes, a 6-foot-8, 190-pound sophomore from Phoenix St. Mary’s.

Hymes is an intriguing big who can shoot it which has helped him pick up offers from schools such as Clemson, Georgia Tech, Grand Canyon, Memphis and Washington.

St. Mary’s has played a tough national schedule this season, which has tested Hymes against some talented competition.

“I’m playing alright,” Hymes said. “I need to pick it up defensively but offensively I’m doing fine. I need to be more aggressive defensively and step up and be more of a leader.”

There are several schools already trying to land Hymes, who has a new program on his list.

Cal has been on me really hard lately,” Hymes said. “I like their coaching staff a lot. They’re a really good program and have a lot of really good pieces right now.

“I’ve also been hearing from Memphis, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Washington, Arizona State and Grand Canyon.”

Hymes doesn’t have any visits set up for the immediate future.

“I don’t think I’m going to take any until after the season,” he said.
