The annual Flyin to the Hoop event is one of the top basketball showcases in the entire country. Taking place at Trent Arena in the Dayton suburb of Kettering, this year again some of the top talent from across the country will combine with the best the state of Ohio has to offer to put together an excellent showcase of basketball.
Maybe the most exciting games of the event are Prolific Prep against La Lumiere on Friday night and then also Huntington Prep against Prolific Prep on Saturday.
La Lumiere features standouts Brian Bowen, Jeremiah Tilmon, and James Banks while Prolific has the nation’s top wing athlete in Josh Jackson. Likewise Huntington is loaded, and led by five-star Miles Bridges. The matchup between Bridges and Jackson should be one of the best of the year.
If you add in Bowen going against Jackson as well, it is fun to think about. It is especially fun since all three of those wings hail from the state of Michigan originally.
While those are two of the highlight games, plenty of other talent is in the event. API has Trevon Duval, who is arguably the top point guard in the nation. Also Michigan State signee Nick Ward will be with Gahanna Lincoln, Butler signee Henry Baddley with Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary, Louisville signee Frankie Hughes with Garfield Heights, Michigan pledge Xavier Simpson is with Lima Senior, and Connecticut pledge Alterique Gilbert is with Miller Grove.
The event which stretches from Friday to Monday should put together a showcase of some top young talent as well. The state of Ohio has very good talent in the 2018 and 2019 classes, and most of those high level younger kids will be participating.
The schedule features games from Friday through Monday, and is one of the best atmosphere’s in high school basketball.
