One player who has been a bit of a breakout surprise during the season is David Beatty. Beatty is at St. Benedict’s and he has shown major improvement with his all-around game. Now the 2017 prospect is firmly on the high-major radar.
“The year has been great,” said Beatty. “I have just been trying to improve my game and help us to win a national championship.”
He continued, “I have been focused on everything. Really I have been working on my jump shot, my handle, and running a team.”
On the recruiting trail, Beatty is seeing his stock soar. After getting mostly mid-major attention coming out of the summer, Beatty is now seeing high-major schools come in and show significant attention.
“I am still open to everybody,” said Beatty. “I have a lot of offers and interest, schools like Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA, Villanova, and Georgetown have been in contact a lot. Georgetown has definitely been recruiting me hard.”
The Hoyas have been the team stepping things up the most recently, and Beatty says that he likes what he has seen from them, and how he could fit in with the program.
“They are a real good school academically and with networking after basketball,” said Beatty. “Also they are a good basketball program and I think I could fit in well there with how I play.”
For now Beatty isn’t focused on making a quick college decision and wants to see who all is interested after the spring, but he does know what he will be looking for in a school going when the time does come to make a decision.
“I want to go somewhere that I can win, and somewhere that I can play right away,” explained Beatty. “I am just looking for a place where I feel the coaches will treat me well and where I can succeed.”null
