Thomas Has Many Options

Quentin Thomas, one of the top point guards in the class of 2004, has offers from the Pac-10, ACC, Big 12 and Big East, among others...

Quentin Thomas, 6-3 SR PG Oakland (Calif.) Oakland Tech, had an outstanding summer and he's receiving serious interest from some of the top programs in the country.

We spoke with Quentin's father, John Thomas, yesterday and asked him which schools have been calling since the evaluation period ended on July 31. "Pittsburgh, North Carolina, Kansas, Oregon, Utah, Arizona State and UConn have all been calling," said Thomas.

We asked about local school Cal and Thomas replied, "They haven't called recently, but they've made their interest very clear and told us that they were holding a scholarship for Quentin."

When asked which other schools have made scholarship offers, Thomas said, "Pittsburgh, Kansas, North Carolina and Arizona State."

Thomas said they won't decide on official visits until a couple weeks from now. "We'll see where each school is at that time," said Thomas. "Two schools that we'll visit for sure are Kansas and North Carolina. Bill Self came out to see us as soon as he got the job and Coach Williams also came out to see Quentin."

Thomas said he doesn't anticipate Quentin making a decision anytime soon. "He told me that a lot of the schools are saying the same things," said Thomas. "So we need to go see the schools in person before making a decision."
