Big 12 School Leads

Chamberlain Oguchi went out in July and heated up his own recruitment with his play at a number of events. Heading into August, one Big 12 school currently leads.

Chamberlain Oguchi, a guard with the Houston Select team, turned in a fine summer. In fact, his play has led to a number of programs moving him up on their priority list.

Despite the fine effort, he wasn't totally satisfied with his play. "After the summer, to me, it just seems like I proved something to people out there but you know, I always could have done better. At ABCD, I didn't perform like I wanted to but it happens."

Right now, Oguchi's main schools include Texas, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Oregon and Illinois. Funny that Texas should pop up on his list when the Horns already have five players committed. However, UT could very well end up with an extra scholarship this year.

Oguchi has been on an unofficial visit to Texas and is trying to squeeze in an unofficial to Oklahoma this month, but that has not been set up yet.

At this point, the Sooners have the early lead and here's what Oguchi said when asked about a leader. "I'd have to say probably Oklahoma at this point. It's just a big time program and playing for Coach Sampson probably would be in my best interest. The other schools aren't too far behind, trust me."

Oguchi has four official visits remaining. He took an official visit to New Mexico but the Lobos are no longer in the hunt for him.
