Canada's Best Player Makes Decision

Denham Brown, the top player in Canada this year, has made a decision. Previously, he had his list narrowed down to six schools, but over the weekend his decision became clear and then he committed.

UConn Lands First Recruit

Jim Calhoun's UConn Huskies have to be excited. The top player in Canada, SF Denham Brown, is a Husky.

"He kind of made up his mind on the weekend but it was made official today," Ro Russell, Brown's AAU coach said. "In terms of contact from each coach, they showed him the most love."

Brown also considered Virginia, Boston College, Rutgers and Kansas. Gonzaga was also a player in his recruitment. "[Gonzaga] stuck in there and said good things and he liked them," Russell said. "I like the way they recruit." Virginia used its lone scholarship on swingman Derrick Byars, essentially taking them out of the race.

UConn clearly did its homework on Brown, a tremendous scorer with a great frame. "Whatever tournaments he was it, they were right there," Russell said. "Ray Allen was his favorite player and he always wanted to go to UConn because of Ray."
