Four-star Bruno Fernando selects SMU

SMU got great news on Friday afternoon when four-star center Bruno Fernando selected the AAC program.

There isn’t much remaining in terms of uncommitted talent in the class of 2016, and on Friday one of the best came off the board. Four-star big man Bruno Fernando decided following his team’s loss at the Dick’s Nationals.

A 6-foot-10 center, Fernando has high level athleticism and should make an instant impact rebounding and on the defensive end while he continues to improve on offense.

When announcing his commitment on ESPNU, Fernando said, “I want to thank all of the colleges that recruited me so hard, but I have made my decision and I will be attending SMU.”

According to Fernando this was a decision that came down to the relationship that he had with Larry Brown and the coaching staff at SMU.

“I was there on campus and I built a relationship with the coaches,” said Fernando. “I just felt that once I got there it was the place I wanted to be.”

This is the fifth commitment for SMU in the class. Fernando joins fellow five-star centers Harry Froling and Ted Kapita as well as three-star guards Dashawn McDowell and Tom Wilson in the class.
