The buzz started to build around Ayo Dosunmo during the high school season and at the NY2LA Swish N Dish he proved that buzz to be more than justified. A big point guard with good size and athleticism, Dosunmo looks like he could be one of the 2018 prospects emerge in the Midwest this spring.
At 6-foot-3 Dosunmo has the size you look for in a guard at the highest level. Also he has the special ability to beat players off the dribble and get into the lane nearly whenever he wants. Dosunmo has shown the ability to go either way with the dribble and then once he gets into the lane he has shown the ability to make good decisions.
Right now he is probably at his best as someone who is a scorer as opposed to a passer, but he is more than capable of both. His outside shot is the work in progress to his game, but pretty much everything is there for Dosunmo to be a high level player.
On the recruiting trail his AAU and High School Coach Nick Irvin says that Oklahoma has been in to see him, but most colleges are waiting until the spring evaluation period to get a feel for him.
There is absolutely no doubt he will play his way into several high-major offers by the end of the month, and it wouldn’t be shocking if a few schools jumped into the fray before even seeing him in game action.
Finding point guards is never easy, but if his play at Swish N Dish is any indication, Dosunmo will be one of the best in the Midwest in 2018.
