It was a dream year on the basketball court for 2018 guard Romeo Langford. Langford and his teammates took home a state title, and individually Langford became one of the hottest commodities in the country.
“It was really good,” said Langford of the season. “It was our main goal for the entire season, and eventually hard work paid off.”
Buzz about Langford began to start the season at the Forum Tip Off Classic and it reached a peak during the state semi-finals when he went for 40 points and had a showing for the ages. Since then all around the state there has been a ton of talk about Langford, but he is keeping it all in perspective.
“It has been kind of crazy being a mini celebrity and stuff,” said Langford with a laugh. “I just take it as it is, and I try to not pay attention to it at all.”
On the recruiting trail schools such as Indiana, Purdue, and Louisville have long been involved with Langford, and recently another powerhouse has stepped up the recruitment in a big way.
“Duke is coming in (Thursday) for open gym,” noted Langford.
He continued about the Blue Devils, “It means a lot that hard work is paying off. It is one of the best colleges in the nation and they are coming to watch me so it is an honor.”
Another school that has been all over Langford is Louisville. Louisville is only about 20 minutes from Langford’s home in New Albany, Indiana, and the Cardinals have made sure to make Langford feel like a priority recruit.
"They just want to see me continue to improve, but they have already offered me and they are making sure to try and build a close relationship with me," said Langford of Louisville
For now Langford is in no hurry to make any kind of college decision and is taking the process slowly while continuing to improve on his game.
