Jordan Goodwin talks recent Northwestern home visit and recruiting

BENTONVILLE, Ark - Four-star wing Jordan Goodwin is one of the most intense competitors in the class of 2017, and is one of the top prospects in the Midwest. At The Preview put on by MADE Hoops, Goodwin spoke about his recruitment.

There is no questioning that Jordan Goodwin is the leader of one of the most talented AAU programs in the country this summer, the St. Louis Eagles. The 6-foot-4 wing has a unique game, and is someone that is attracting a lot of significant college attention.

About his high school season, Goodwin said, “This year the high school season went well with a state championship. I feel I got better as a leader. I also got better with my jump shot and my guard skills got better, but I know I still have to work on my game.”

On the recruiting trail Goodwin has several schools showing him significant interest.

“I’ve been really hearing from Northwestern, Illinois, Missouri, and Creighton the most right now,” listed Goodwin. “There are a few others, but those are the main schools. I had a home visit with Coach (Chris) Collins on Thursday.”

About the Northwestern visit, Goodwin said, “The sit down with Coach Collins was good. We have a good relationship and seems like a down to earth guy that I would like to play for. It was a good meeting and overall I like Northwestern a lot.”

One school that has been showing Goodwin a ton of attention is Illinois. The Illini coaches as well as commitment Javon Pickett have made sure to work hard on getting Goodwin to Champaign.

“Javon is always in my ear,” noted Goodwin. “We talk almost every other day and hang out on the weekends. He is trying to convince me to go to Illinois, and I like the Illinois staff and that it is close to home.”

Another school with a longstanding relationship with Goodwin is Missouri. The Tigers coaching staff led by Corey Tate has been on Goodwin for a while, and has a good bond with the four-star.

“I have a good relationship with Coach (Kim) Anderson and a great relationship with Coach Tate,” said Goodwin. “He coached me with the Eagles and is like a second dad, so with them it is family.”

When it comes to Creighton, Goodwin said, “Creighton has Coach (Gregg) McDermott. He is a great coach and a great person. I feel like if I were to go to Creighton he’d put the ball in my hands and let me go to work.”

At this point Goodwin continues to go through the process and says he is simply taking everything in stride.

“I am just taking everything day by day,” said Goodwin. “I am in no hurry and I plan to make visits before making a decision.”
