Louisville, Connecticut, Providence, and others in hot pursuit of Ashton-Langford

DUNCANVILLE, Tex - One of the major standouts on night one of the adidas Gauntlet was Mass Rivals product Makai Ashton-Langford.

One of the top prospects on the adidas gauntlet is Makai Ashton-Langford. The talented point guard put on a show on night one. Ashton-Langford, who is a hot recruiting commodity on the east coast showed the complete skill set and lifted his team to a big win.

After his big opening night performance, Ashton-Langford said, “Things are going well. I am working on my jump shot a lot while also being able to get to the basket. It has been a focus to do a better job of finishing through contact and over top of people in the lane.”

On the recruiting trail Ashton-Langford is attracting major interest and has some big time scholarship offers to his credit.

“Right now I have offers from Louisville, Connecticut, Providence, DePaul, St. Bonaventure, and Rhode Island,” listed Ashton-Langford.

He continued, “I went to a Providence game. I was going to go Connecticut, but I had a conflict with my high school schedule.”

About the visit to Providence, Ashton-Langford said, “It was a great visit. It is just a great environment there. I think I would fit really well into their style of play.”

Also Ashton-Langford has been very intrigued by the Louisville offer, and he is starting to build a good bond with the coaching staff.

“I talk to the assistant coach a lot,” said Ashton-Langford. “Rick Pitino hit my cell phone one time just to check in. I have liked Louisville for a while, so getting a call from them was a big deal.”

There was some talk about Ashton-Langford moving into the 2016 class, but he says he is pretty sure he is going to stay 2017.

In general Ashton-Langford said, “I am just open to all options at the moment, I don’t want to narrow things down yet.”
