Cody Riley has been one of the West Coast’s top 2017 prospects from the second he stepped foot at Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon and this weekend at the Nike EYBL in Brooklyn he only solidified his status as not only one of the best bigs on the West Coast, but also nationally.
Scout’s 21st ranked 2017 prospect, the 6-foot-7, 250-pound power forward has been open about the fact that UCLA is his leader, which would be a big pickup for the Bruins.
Riley has several areas of his game that especially stood out this weekend. His size, strength and toughness make him tough for opposing posts to defend inside, where he finished very well with contact and made some extremely difficult shots.
The five-star prospect also can play from the high post, where he hit open jumpers and also displayed impressive vision, often finding Phoenix Phamily teammate Marvin Bagley inside.
Riley used his size, athleticism and feel to do a nice job on the defensive glass, while also playing hard on defense.
It was an impressive junior season for Riley and he is definitely off to a good start to his last season of AAU.
