Detroit East English Village Prep is home to one of the top sleepers in the 2017 class in Greg Elliott.
The 6-foot-3, 165-pound shooting guard from The Family AAU squad has extremely long arms, has a nice feel as a rebounder, showed the ability to score form midrange and in and uses his length and instincts to guard multiple positions.
“I shoot, attack the rim, I’m more versatile and do everything well,” Elliott said. “I need to get stronger and become a true point guard. In college I think I’ll be more of a combo.”
Elliott, who has grown three inches over the last year, entered this weekend’s Nike EYBL with offers from Kent State, Robert Morris, Duquesne, Northern Kentucky, George Mason, Toledo, Cleveland State and Detroit.
On Tuesday, DePaul added itself to Elliott’s list of offers.
“I just know they’re in a real good conference and that’s big,” Elliott said. “That would be a good look for me playing in the Big East.”
Elliott grew up a fan of a local program.
“The school I grew up rooting for is Michigan and they’re recruiting me,” he said. “I grew up a fan of them. I like how close it is and how they play. They switch it up, play zone, and I like the coaching staff.”
As Elliott goes through the process he has an idea of what will be important to him in a school.
“I want a family atmosphere,” Elliott said. “If I go away from home I want to feel like I’m at home based on everyone around me. I want a family environment.”
