Gordon To Play In SEC

Alex Gordon said the other day that Vanderbilt was his leader. What he didn't say was exactly how close he was to committing.

Alex Gordon, a multi-sport standout at Pensacola High, committed to play for Vanderbilt in the fall of 2004.

Late in the week, Gordon mentioned that the Commodores led for his services. Just two days later, the point guard committed to Vandy.

"They're going to let me come in and play my game. It's good academics and a rising program with good coaches."

Gordon said that initially he did not want to sign early but the total package that Vanderbilt offered from a basketball standpoint – with an emphasis on playing time – and academically made the decision relatively easy for him.
