One of the more talented teams in the Northeast in the EYBL is Expressions Elite. A big part of their team is four-star forward Kimani Lawrence. The Cushing Academy product has been very good so far this spring, and continues to be tracked closely by high level coaches.
“I think I am playing really well,” said Lawrence of the spring. “The game is coming easier to me, and it helps playing with Tremont (Waters) and Nick (Richards) who help take away attention and give me space on the floor.”
He continued, “I’ve been working on my jump shot and my handle so I can transition to playing on the perimeter more.”
On the recruiting trail several schools are keeping a close eye on Lawrence.
“I talk to Texas a lot, USC just offered, Xavier, and Wake Forest all talk to me a lot,” said Lawrence.
About the offer from USC, Lawrence said, “It meant a lot to get their offer. I like their program and their style of play. I feel like I would do good if I go there.”
Texas has been picking things up with Lawrence and had coaches tracking him closely all weekend.
About the Longhorns, Lawrence said, “They like the way I score and how hard I play. I like them a lot and how they develop their players for the next level.”
One school that has had Lawrence a priority for a while is Xavier. The Musketeers visited Lawrence during the year, and he continues to be in close contact with the coaching staff.
“I know a lot about them,” said Lawrence of Xavier. “Tyrique Jones who played for (Expressions) last year is going there and I talk to him a lot. Also I have built a good relationship with their coaching staff and I like them a lot. Also I like how they play.”
For now Lawrence is in no hurry to make a decision, but he knows one school that he for sure would like to get out and see.
"I don’t have any visits planned so far, but I know I definitely want to check out USC’s campus,” noted Lawrence.
