2017 Melo Eggleston commits to Wake Forest

Danny Manning and Wake Forest picked up their first pledge of the 2017 class on Monday. Melo Eggleston chose the Demon Deacons.

2017 wing Melo Eggleston verbally committed to Wake Forest on Monday, he told Scout.

[They've] been with me from the start of everything, through [the] struggle," Eggleston told Scout.

"He and the whole staff was consistent in recruiting me," he added about Danny Manning. "They told me I was their guy in 2017 and never changed up. They made it clear the could help me on and off the court, and help me reach my goals."

Eggleston said he chose Wake Forest over Connecticut, Georgia, LSU, Baylor, Memphis, South Carolina and Florida.

"I never had a set final [list], Wake just stood out," he said.

A native of Maryland, Eggleston is a 6-foot-6 wing prospect that can score from the perimeter. He's regarded as a three-star prospect on Scout.

Eggleston is Wake Forest's first pledge of the 2017 class.
