Washington 2017 SF Roberto Gittens making strides, seeing recruitment pick up

Roberto Gittens is an improving 2017 small forward from the Northwest who is seeing his recruitment pick up.

A player who always showed promise as an underclassman, Roberto Gittens has made major strides over the last year.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound 2017 small forward from Tacoma (Wash.) Foss was impressive this weekend for the Northwest Panthers at the adidas Gauntlet, showing improved ball skills and shooting ability.

“I’ve been more confident and become more of a leader,” Gittens said. “I’ve just been leading my team, talking and rebounding. I want to dribble better and become more consistent.”

Washington has recruited Gittens for a long time, while Montana and Hofstra have offered him scholarships.

“I like the way they play; I like their style,” Gittens said of the Huskies.

Washington State, Oregon, Arizona and Minnesota are also showing interest in Gittens.

The junior knows what he’ll be looking for in a school.

“Coaching,” Gittens said. “Every coach I’ve played for I’ve had a good relationship with. That’s what I’m looking for.”
