A player who has really emerged this spring onto the national radar is 2017 wing Greg Elliott. The 6-foot-3 Elliott doesn’t fit in the traditional mold of a shooting guard or a point guard, but he does a lot of things well on the court, and is becoming a high level recruit because of it.
“The spring is going good,” said Elliott of the spring. “I am playing pretty well. It was kind of tough adjusting to a new team, but we are getting it together now, and I feel I am improving.”
He continued, “I am working on becoming more of a point guard and just getting more consistent with my perimeter shot.”
On the recruiting trail Elliott has picked up a few offers and numerous others schools are really becoming involved in his recruitment.
“I have interest from Michigan, Utah, Xavier, Creighton, Providence, and Mississippi State,” noted Elliott. “Also I have offers from DePaul, Rice, and Valparaiso.”
The offer from DePaul was the first high-major one for Elliott, and he says that is a big thing.
“They told me they saw me on the EYBL and that they thought I would fit their system real well,” said Elliott of DePaul.
About Michigan, Elliott said, “They just want to keep me in the loop and see me play more. I grew up watching them, and they say they like me a lot.”
Xavier has been one of the more active schools recruiting Elliott, and he says he is going to visit the Big East school this month.
“I am supposed to go down to Xavier in May,” explained Elliott. “I like how they play fast, and they long guards which I am so, so I feel I would fit in well.”
At the moment Elliott says he wants to make visits and get a feel for all the schools on his list before coming to a college decision.
