High major schools are beginning to turn up the heat on Eric Hunter

Class of 2018 guard Eric Hunter is seeing his stock rise this spring and high-major programs are beginning to take notice.

One player who is beginning to really emerge right now in the state of Indiana in the 2018 class is Eric Hunter. Running with Gary Harris Elite this spring, Hunter has shown an improved jump shot and continues to put up big numbers.

About the spring, Hunter said, “The spring is going well. I feel I am playing pretty well. I have been working on getting stronger and just being more consistent with my perimeter shot.”

Things are just now picking up for Hunter on the recruiting trail, and several high-major programs are starting to take notice.

“I’ve been talking to Michigan State, Iowa, Xavier, Indiana State, all of the Indiana schools basically, and a few others,” said Hunter.

Michigan State is familiar with Hunter, and monitored him this spring. The Spartans are continuing to take a look, and Hunter likes the program in East Lansing.

“They are a good team with a good program,” said Hunter. “They go deep into the tournament almost every year, and I know Gary Harris so I like the program a lot.”

Another Big Ten program, Iowa, has picked up the pace as well in this recruitment, and the Hawkeyes are beginning to reach out more to Hunter’s coaches and parents.

“I don’t know a ton about Iowa,” admitted Hunter. “I know they have been talking to my AAU coach and my dad, and they are a Big Ten school, so I like that they are recruiting me.”

For now Hunter is just beginning to look into his recruitment. When the time does come to make a decision he does know what he will be looking for in a school.

“I am looking for a school that is interested in me as more than a player, and just a place that is a good fit for my game,” said Hunter.
