DePaul lands a 2018 pledge in John Diener

DePaul got a quick start to their 2018 class securing a shooter on the perimeter with good size.

DePaul and Head Coach Dave Leitao continue to work to revamp their roster. The latest player to come into the fold for the Blue Demons is John Diener. Diener picked the Blue Demons on Wednesday night over offers from Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Wisconsin-Green Bay.

"John Diener has committed to Dave Leitao and the DePaul Blue Demons," said AAU Coach Ritchie Davis.

There is absolutely no substitute for being able to shoot the basketball and very few prospects in the Midwest have that ability better than Diener. At 6-foot-4 he has a quick release and is someone who can really stretch the floor. His ability to shoot the basketball is his greatest strength, but Diener can also move fairly well and his size allows him to get his shot off against solid defenders.

Diener plays on a loaded Wisconsin Playground Warriors squad on the adidas circuit, and he has really started coming into his own this spring. He was very solid at the NY2LA Swish N Dish to start the spring and then continue with some solid play at the Spiece Run N Slam this past weekend.

This is the first commitment for DePaul in the class of 2018.
