Top 100 center Bruno Fernando backs off pledge to SMU, reclassifies

HAMPTON, Va. -- Top 100 big man Bruno Fernando is opening up his recruitment and moving to the 2017 class.

Bruno Fernando, who committed to SMU late in the high school season, has opted to reclassify to 2017 and back off his verbal pledge, he told Scout.

“I'm no longer committeed to SMU,” Fernando said. “I reopened my recruiting process and [will] consider everything.”

Fernando played this past weekend at the Nike EYBL Hampton event. In four games, Fernando, a 6-foot-10 center, averaged 10.8 points and seven rebounds a game.

Bruno finished ranked No. 76 overall in Scout’s 2016 rankings. With this move, he’ll be slotted in the 2017 top 100 when we update that list.
