Providence and Ed Cooley nabbed an important target in the 2016 class

Providence added another piece to their recruiting class with a much needed frontcourt addition.

The possible departure of All-Big East power forward Ben Bentil to the NBA was making the Providence frontcourt look a little light. However the Friars got some good news on Wednesday when Kalif Young picked the program.

At nearly 6-foot-9 and 265 pounds, Young was one of the better unsigned post prospects in the 2016 class. Providence had been recruiting Young for quite some time, and at the end of the day he picked the Friars over Marquette, Alabama, and Pittsburgh.

"I am happy to announce that I will be joining the Friar family and committing to Providence," said Young on his official twitter account.

This is now the fourth commitment for the Friars in their 2016 class. Young is joined by four-star point guard Maliek White as well as three-star prospects Alpha Diallo and Emmitt Holt.
