White Fired Up About Commitment

Desean White is fired up about his new commitment. We spoke to the forward on Monday night and he's happy to be headed to the Big East.

Some guys play it cool when they commit. Others are kind of aloof. Not Desean White. He's fired up about committing to Providence.

"It's going to be fun!" White said. "I just think when I'm in my right mind there aren't too many people who can guard me. To be honest, I just can't wait until the season starts for Providence!

"I'm just waiting for the first game. I watched them play so I know their style of play. I'm just excited about the level of competition the Big East has to offer."

White committed to Providence shortly after visiting the school last weekend. He had interest from Penn State, East Carolina, South Florida, Rhode Island and Villanova. Providence, though, tugged on him the most.

"I had a lot of offers. I just had to take my time. First I was a little confused and I didn't know where I wanted to go. Then I went down there, it's close to home and they're in a good conference."

Now, the big man is ready to do work for the Friars.

"I just bring my game, my heart. I play with no fear and I just play with heart. If I play with heart and no fear, not too many people can guard me. It'll be real good to see everyone step up and guard me. But, I know as a freshman I won't be able to blow past everyone. It'll take some time. I'll hit the weights and get stronger, faster and quicker."

Providence fans, if you're listening, this guy is ready to go. He's fired up to be a Friar and that kind of enthusiasm can be contagious.
