Guard Picks Siena

Bilal Benn had been on Siena's wish list for a long time. On Monday, he moved himself onto another list in the Siena office: committed.

Bilal Benn, a guard from Philadelphia (PA) Cardinal Dougherty, committed to Siena on Monday night. Benn visited the school over the weekend and opted for the Saints upon his return.

Most of the local schools had been tracking Benn and he was also hearing from St. Joe's and Dayton of the Atlantic 10.

Benn was impressed with how the Siena staff handles itself. "They really have a lot of confidence in their team. If they have a bad game and stuff goes wrong, they don't stray from their strategy at all. They treat you well up there."

Benn's teammate, recently committed forward Desean White, is impressed by what his friend can do. "I'm happy for him," White said. "He sacrificed a lot for our whole team. For him not starting and them becoming one of the top guards in the state! He could have gone to another school and averaged some crazy numbers. He's going to do real good up in Siena, real good."

"I have to get more aggressive on offense and I'm a good defensive player," Benn said. "I play well in transition. I think I rebound very well for a guard and I shoot pretty well too. I think I'm a good team player."

Siena is also chasing Kashif Payne, Mike Walker and Richard Cunningham.
