Four-star prospect Malik Williams continued his big spring on Saturday with an impressive performance at the Chicago Classic. Williams, who is one of the most skilled bigs in the country, showed off his unique ability, and recently more and more schools have entered the recruiting fray.
“It is going pretty well,” said Williams of the spring. “We are playing well as a team. I am just working on getting stronger and just more consistent with my game.”
For the 6-foot-11 Williams many thought his recruitment was getting close to done, and he would choose between Indiana, Iowa, Purdue, and Michigan State. However recently another school, Louisville, entered the mix and now Williams plans on visiting this upcoming week.
About the Cardinals, Williams said, “The relationship has been coming along strong. They just came in, but they are coming after me hard, and I feel like it will be a nice place to visit.”
He continued about Louisville, “I just like that they have a good program, they are in the ACC, and it is just a nice school.”
One of the schools that has been the most active is Iowa. Fran McCaffery was a fixture at Williams’ games this spring, and the two continue to build a strong relationship.
“I like that they are consistent with the recruiting process, and I really enjoyed my visit out there,” said Williams of Iowa. “It is a nice place.”
Michigan State did an in-home visit with Williams during April, and it went very well. The Spartans continue to be one of the most consistent schools mentioned with Williams, and he has built a strong bond with Dane Fife and Tom Izzo.
“It is a strong relationship,” said Williams of Michigan State. “They came in for an in home and we had a nice talk. They just have been real consistent with their recruitment and it is a school I like a lot.”
While at one point Williams had planned to announce his decision on his birthday in August, now he says things have slowed down. Instead of announcing a commitment he simply plans to narrow down his list of schools.
