This weekend at the UnderArmour Association, one of the more impressive underclassman performances came from a new name on Team Breakdown 16u.
Angel Smith, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound shooting guard from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Cardinal Gibbons, scored from all three levels against Illinois Wolves 16u, using his slashing ability to get to the basket - finishing with both hands in process- and foul line, while he also knocked down three-pointers and midrange pull-ups.
Smith scored 29 points in a game that very well could end up being a breakout performance for the 2018 prospect, who prides himself in his scoring ability.
"I attack the basket really well," Smith said. "I'm aggressive and a slasher. I've extended my game out to the three-point line. I'm working on my ball handling and passing."
Brown and Binghamton are showing interest in Smith, who is more focused on his game than recruitment.
"I'm just working on getting better right now," he said.
