Five-star wing Kris Wilkes has been tremendous all spring long for the Indy Hoosiers. The 6-foot-8 Wilkes has shown off his athleticism as well as his improved shooting ability, and a wide range of colleges are currently involved in his recruitment.
About his spring, Wilkes said, “I think the spring went well. We closed out strong in California, and that was good. We are playing well as a team, and now I am just looking forward to Georgia, and hopefully coming home with a win.”
He continued, “I think my game has gotten better. I have really worked on knocking down shots in the mid-range and out. I am just trying to do that more and more and it is getting better.”
The list of schools after Wilkes is long. Indiana, Purdue, Notre Dame, Michigan, Michigan State, Butler, UCLA, Illinois, Xavier, Arizona, Maryland, Louisville, Washington, and others have all been linked to Wilkes, and this week he will make two visits.
“I am visiting Michigan on Sunday and I am going to Ohio State (Wednesday),” said Wilkes.
It has been a while since Wilkes made a trip to Ohio State, and he is looking forward to getting back on campus.
“I haven’t been down there in about a year, but I have built a good relationship with them,” said Wilkes of the Buckeyes. “I am hoping to just get a feel for the campus more and get to know the head coach better as well. I am looking forward to it.”
After visiting the Buckeyes it he will head back home, play for the Indiana Junior All-Stars, and then make the weekend visit to Ann Arbor.
When it comes to Michigan, Wilkes said, “I think I am getting a better relationship with them now. I am hoping to keep building that this weekend on the visit. Also I want to see the campus and just get a good feel for everything.”
At this point Wilkes is a long way from making any decision, and plans to make official visits in the fall as well as unofficial visits before getting close to a decision.
The biggest focus right now for Wilkes is on USA Basketball, and becoming a member of the under 18 team.
“I have been waiting on that for a while,” said Wilkes. “I am confident I will make the team. I am excited to get out there and work hard and represent my country.”
