One of the players in the Midwest with the biggest upside in the class of 2017 is Malik Williams. The four-star prospect has the size, athleticism, and skill to be one of the best long term players in the class.
Over the weekend Williams had a chance to visit Rick Pitino and the Louisville Cardinals. Louisville recently picked things up with the 6-foot-10 power forward, and they have made quite the impression.
According to Williams it was a success, and the trip to Louisville went well.
“I liked it down there,” said Williams of the visit. “It is a nice campus, and I liked Coach Pitino. They said that they liked my personality and my versatility.”
Williams has made it very clear to all of the schools recruiting him that he doesn’t want to go to a school that is going to stick him down in the post like a traditional center.
With that, Williams feels that he would fit in very well at Louisville, and that he would develop as a player all around.
“I think I would fit in nicely there,” explained Williams. “I think they would help me play my game and develop me into the best player that I can be.”
Along with the Cardinals, Williams is hearing from schools such as Indiana, Purdue, Michigan State, Iowa, UCLA, Maryland, Xavier, Cincinnati, and others.
Look for Williams to narrow down his list in August and then make official visits before issuing a commitment.
