Joey Hauser talks recent Marquette and Wisconsin visits

Power forward Joey Hauser had a productive weekend at the Nike Elite 100, and is continuing his tour of college campuses.

One of the best and most versatile prospects in the 2018 class is Joey Hauser. Hauser has shown himself to be one of the top prospects in the country this spring with the Iowa Barnstormers, and then again had a solid showing this past weekend at the Nike Elite 100.

“It was different here,” said Hauser of his Elite 100 experience. “I had to adjust to being around all of these guys, but you get used to it and you know what you have to do to play well, but it was a cool event.”

On the recruiting trail schools such as Iowa, Wisconsin, Marquette, Michigan State, Ohio State, Gonzaga, Nebraska, Minnesota, and others are recruiting him.

Most recently Hauser made a pair of close unofficial visits.

“I went to Marquette last week and Wisconsin about two weeks ago,” said Hauser.

About the visit to Wisconsin, Hauser said, “Wisconsin just told me how in-state recruiting is really important to them. They told me how I would fit in to their program and why they are successful and things like that, so it was a good visit.”

Hauser’s older brother, Sam Hauser, is set to play his freshman year at Marquette this season, and the Golden Eagles are hoping to reunite the brothers on the same team in a couple of years.

“They just tell me to keep getting better every day,” said Hauser of Marquette. “They really want me to come and play with my brother there, but they also don’t want to pressure me. Their biggest sell is that they think I can have a great future there and be someone who makes a huge impact on the program.”

The visits are however are not done for Hauser, who should be making a Big Ten visit soon.

“I think I am going to Michigan State next week,” said Hauser.

About the visit to East Lansing, Hauser said, “I don’t know a whole lot about Michigan State, but I do know Tom Izzo is a great coach. I am hoping to find out more about them on the visit.”

Look for Hauser to make several more visits before issuing a commitment to any school.
