Naji Marshall talks about his recent visits

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va - Four-star forward Naji Marshall has asserted himself as one of the top do it all wings in the country. With his versatility on the court and unique skill set he has attracted significant high-major recruiting attention.

Four-star forward Naji Marshall was one of the top performers on the Under Armour Association this spring, and he continued that strong play with a solid showing on night one at the NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp.

About his spring overall, Marshall said, “It was a good spring. We are having a good run on the circuit and I picked up some nice offers, and I am getting a lot better.”

In terms of his recruitment Marshall indicated he was focused on Xavier, Virginia Tech, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Pittsburgh. However Maryland has recently gotten more involved, and the Terps are becoming a factor in this recruitment.

“They didn’t offer, but I know they are interested,” said Marshall of Maryland. “I just play pick up with their guys a lot, and they are interested so that is good.”

About his time on the Maryland campus, Marshall said, “It is kind of a learning experience. They have an NBA point guard in the gym. I am following his lead and trying to fit in with the guys. They are helpful in telling me to play my game, so it is fun.”

His most recent campus tour was to Virginia Tech, and Marshall says he enjoyed the trip to Blacksburg.

“I loved the campus,” said Marshall of Virginia Tech. “I love how passionate the coaches are about winning, but also making you a better person. The campus is just lovely, so that impressed me.”

Before visiting Virginia Tech, Marshall took an unofficial visit to Xavier, and the Musketeers made a big impression.

“I still love Xavier,” said Marshall of Xavier. “I love their campus and their coaches especially. I like that they have a great basketball program and that it is the main sport on campus, so my interest in them is still really high.”

Up next for Marshall is a visit to Pittsburgh.

“I’m going to visit them June 19,” said Marshall of Pittsburgh. “I like Kevin Stallings and Coach (Kevin) Sutton. They are really good, so I’m looking forward to seeing what the campus is like.”

At this point there is no specific timeframe for Marshall to make his college decision.
