Class of 2017 center Evan Battey has been one of the most consistent performers at the NBPA Top 100 Camp. Battey has a unique game that thrives on taking advantage of his wide frame, and college coaches are taking notice.
“The spring was pretty good,” said Battey of the spring. “I pattern my whole game on mismatches. If a kid bigger than me is on me I go to the wing, if it is someone smaller I go to the post. It has been a good spring, and my team has been winning games so it was really good.”
When it comes to his recruitment, Battey has numerous offers with a lot of schools picking up the interest.
“I have offers from Fresno State, Utah State, Nevada, Cal State Fullerton, James Madison, LMU, San Jose State, and San Diego,” listed Battey. “I’m hearing from Boise State, Clemson, Oregon State, and Colorado.”
In terms of visits, Battey has set up.
“I have a visit to Boise State coming up soon,” said Battey.
About what he is looking for on the visit, Battey said, “I just want to see the family feel and how they invite incoming players into their atmosphere. That is a big thing for me, where I would feel welcome.”
With a shortage of bigs who can rebound on the West Coast, look for Battey to be a heavily tracked prospect during the month of July.
