Forward RaiQuan Gray made major moves this spring. The Florida native became one of the hottest names in the South, and picked up a load of scholarship offers. Now he is thinking about making two visits in the near future.
“The spring went well,” said Gray. “My time finished 9-3 in the UA circuit and I picked up a lot of offers, and I think I have been playing well, so it was good.”
At 6-foot-8 and 235 pounds, Gray is someone who can create matchup problems with his skill, and he always tries to take advantage of that.
“I think I am excellent in the mid-post and go there against smaller players, and then if I have someone bigger on me I try to go out on the wing and take advantage of them there,” said Gray.
When it comes to his recruitment, Gray said, “My list is Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Memphis, Baylor, USC, and a couple of other schools.”
He continued, “I plan to get to Oklahoma State sometime this June, and then I also plan to get to Florida.”
Oklahoma State has a longstanding relationship with Gray through assistant coach LaMont Evans, and the Cowboys are trying to take advantage of it.
“I have a good relationship with Coach Lamont,” said Gray. “He was at South Carolina, and has been recruiting me since the ninth grade. We have a real good relationship, so I like that about them.”
Also the staff at Florida has been recruiting Gray for a while, and they have made an impact in his recruitment.
“Keith Stone goes there and he is like an older brother to me,” said Gray. “Also Coach (Darris) Nichols has been recruiting me since the ninth grade so we have a good relationship.”
For now the plan for Gray is to make visits, and he does know what will be important for him when he is ready to select a school.
“I am just looking for a place where I have a good relationship with the coaches and I am around people that I can trust,” noted Gray.
