Four-star forward Galen Alexander has flashed a lot of potential throughout his high school career. The Louisiana native combines big time athleticism with a strong body and improving skills, to be one of the more intriguing prospects in the class. With that numerous schools are showing him significant attention.
At the NBPA Top 100 Camp, Alexander showed his high upside and competed well.
“It went well,” said Alexander of the camp. “I feel like it has been a lot of fun. This is my first time at the camp, and I am enjoying it and soaking it all in. It has been great.”
When it comes to his recruitment things haven’t yet been narrowed down, and a long list of schools remain in the mix.
“Arkansas, Arizona, Arizona, LSU, NC State, Marquette, Texas, Texas A&M, TCU, California, UCLA, and a lot of other schools are talking to me,” said Alexander.
He continued, “I took a visit to TCU and I also went to LSU. I plan on taking official to Arizona and Marquette for sure.”
TCU has a tie to Alexander through assistant coach David Patrick who has recruited Alexander for a long time, starting when he was at LSU.
“I liked the visit a lot,” said Alexander of TCU. “Coach Patrick has been recruiting me since he was at LSU. It was a beautiful campus and Dallas is a wonderful place so that was great.”
When it comes to LSU, Alexander said, “Johnny Jones and I are real close. LSU was one of the first schools recruiting me so that was great, and it is every kid’s dream to play right down the street so that is something that is special to me.”
One school that has made a major impression on Alexander is Arizona, and he is looking forward to getting out there to see the school.
“I really want to take a visit out there,” said Alexander of Arizona. “I want to see the history, and my relationship with Coach (Sean) Miller and Coach (Joe) Pasternack is great. Also they have a good history of developing wings like Aaron Gordon and Stanley Johnson. They send a lot of guys to the next level so I like them.”
Also he Alexander wants to see Marquette, and feels he would fit in well with the Big East program.
“I like Marquette a lot,” noted Alexander. “They tell me that they need a big wing like me, and I think I would fit into their system well. Coach Wojo is a great guy and they have been recruiting me hard, so it is a place I definitely want to see.”
For now Alexander is considering all suitors, but he does plan to narrow things down in the near future.
“I will probably cut my list down after Peach Jam or after Vegas to around eight schools,” he said.
