Four-star guard David Beatty is someone who has really shown improvement over the past 12 months. At the recent NBPA Top 100 Camp Beatty proved himself against some of the best around, and now he is seriously considering his college options.
With good size, an ability to score, and solid athleticism Beatty has made himself one of the top combo guards in the country, and he has a long list of schools recruiting him.
“Maryland, Xavier, Indiana, California, St. John’s, Seton Hall, Georgetown, Texas A&M, Virginia, UCLA, Temple, and some others,” said Beatty.
He continued, “I’ve been to Georgetown, Maryland, UCLA, Temple, LaSalle, USC, and Seton Hall. I want to see Xavier and California for sure as well.”
When it comes to Indiana, Beatty said, “I just know that they have a great history and that their coach does a good job with guards and that Indiana fans are diehard and want to have a great team.”
One school that has really been in contact is Maryland, and the Terrapins continue to be one of his top options.
“Coach (Mark) Turgeon is my man,” said Beatty. “We talk about how I’d be coming off the pick and roll and how they like big guards and tough kids like me. He wants me to be a scorer and someone who plays defense because her really focuses on defense.”
Also Georgetown has been showing Beatty a lot of attention over the last year, and he thinks he could fit in well there.
“They just say that they need me and want me to be a scorer,” noted Beatty. “They want me to have an impact right away and be someone who enjoys being on scholarship and playing basketball at a big time school.”
While Beatty hasn’t had a chance to visit all the schools on his list, he does admit he doesn’t want to wait around to make a decision. If he knows where he wants to go he could commit soon.
“I don’t want to just wait around or anything,” said Beatty. “I am figuring out where I want to go, and when I find the place that is right for me I will commit.”
