Forward E.J. Montgomery has long been on the radar of college coaches. The 2018 prospect began getting national attention before he even played a game of high school basketball, and slowly but surely he is beginning to focus in on his recruitment.
After missing some of the spring with an injury, Montgomery showed well for himself at the NBPA Top 100 Camp, and showed some production to go with his immense promise.
“Things are going pretty good,” said Montgomery. “I am just trying to get back in at have fun.”
He continued, “I have been focused on my strength, just being consistent, and getting my shot better.”
On the recruiting side of things Montgomery lets his father handle most all of it, but he does know a few of the schools that have been in contact.
“Baylor, TCU, California, Miami, Georgia and some other schools have been in touch with my dad,” noted Montgomery.
Baylor is a school that has definitely made sure to reach out and let it be known they are very interested in the five-star prospect.
About the Bears, Montgomery said, “I don’t know a lot about them. I just know they really like me and they are talking to my dad a lot.”
While he isn’t close to making a decision, Montgomery does know what he will be looking for in a program when the time does come to make a commitment down the road.
“The relationship between me and the coach will be important,” he explained. “Also I want to go somewhere that plays in an up tempo game.”
