At this point Jay Wright and Villanova hold just one pledge in the 2017 class, but it’s one that will help boost their interior player and has their one-man class ranked as No. 9 in the class rankings.
Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree, who ranks No. 62 overall, is a local standout at Philadelphia (Pa.) Neuemann-Goretti and is a good fit for Jay Wright's system and what he wants out of his post players.
At 6-foot-9, 210-pounds, Cosby Roundtree is a good athlete that gets off the ground quickly and has good basketball instincts. He’s mobile and consistently runs rim to rim and looking to get down the floor for easy buckets.
Cosby-Roundtree plays the game with energy and effort. He’s active on the glass and that has been easy to tell in the Nike EYBL playing with Team Final, where he’s averaging 7.6 rebounds a game. Through 16 games, he’s pulled in 45 offensive rebounds.
Offensively, Cosby Roundtree isn’t ultra skilled and this is certainly an area for improvement. But with that said, he does have a right jump hook over his left shoulder and does finish fairly well from close range. His efficiency has been evident in the EYBL, as he's 78-for-126 from the field, which is good for 62-percent.
Overall through 16 games with Team Final in the EYBL, Cosby-Roundtree, a four-star prospect, is averaging 10.8 points a game.
