PIT: Alex O'Connell rises to occasion

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. -- 2017 wing Alex O'Connell went off with over a dozen high major head coaches looking on. Where do things stand in his recruitment? Where are the strengths of his game?

Evaluation Notes

With the Nike Peach Jam 17’s morning session over a gym full of head coaches strolled over to a local high school to watch Alex O'Connell in the Peach Invitational Tournament.

In a match up with Southern Stampede and Collin Sexton, O’Connell, a 6-foot-5 wiry wing, picked up a good time to go off on the offensive end of the floor. O’Connell made multiple shots from long-range and boasts impressive shot mechanics, a quick release and good range on his shot. To go with threes, O’Connell attacked the basket, made a handful of floaters and scored the ball at the rim in transition. Although he has a slight frame, O’Connell has long arms and is a good athlete that isn’t afraid to attack the basket.

O’Connell is ranked as the No. 65 overall prospect and the No. 13 shooting guard in the class.
