Four-star 2017 center Branden Carlson improving stock

IRVINE, Calif. - One of the West Coast Elite Summer Classic's top performers was 2017 center Branden Carlson, who continues to prove himself as a high major prospect.

After watching Branden Carlson for the first time in April at the adidas Gauntlet in Atlanta, Scout immediately ranked the 2017 Exum Elite standout as a four-star prospect.

Seeing him again a couple months later and it's clear that Carlson has even improved from then.

Carlson is 6-foot-10 and 220 pounds with long arms and a frame that will allow him to put on plenty of strength in time. He's extremely mobile for his size, plays very hard and his confidence and skill on offense are both going in the right direction.

"I feel like my hands are getting better; I've been getting more coordinated," Carlson said. "I've been lifting and I feel like I'm getting stronger. My shot needs work and so does my post defense."

Carlson listed offers from BYU, Stanford, Utah, Utah State, Weber State, Wyoming and UC Davis, while he listed four schools which he plans to visit in the fall.

"Stanford, BYU, Utah, Utah State for sure," Carlson said, before quickly breaking down each school he plans to see.

Stanford: "Good academic school. I like the coaches there and it's the Pac-12."

BYU: "I've always liked BYU. I like coach (Dave) Rose and (Tim) LaComb."

Utah: "I love coach K (Larry Krystkowiak). I feel like he's going to help my game get better as a big and get me to the league."

Utah State: "They're so loving and always welcoming and supporting."

The plan for Carlson is to make a fall decision.

"I'll take some visits in September and I'll probably decide in October," he said.
