Forward Jordan Usher has been one of the most productive kids in the country during the AAU season. Usher was dominant at times during the adidas Gauntlet, and more and more coaches are picking up the interest in him.
“I had a pretty good start to July,” said Usher. “I led the Gauntlet in scoring and I think I improved my ball handling and things like that.”
When it comes to his recruitment, Usher says things will be narrowed down soon, but already some schools stand out.
“I’m going to cut my list after Vegas, but I really like Arizona State, USC, Texas, Kansas State, Yale, and schools like that,” said Usher.
He continued, “Definitely I am going to visit Arizona State, USC, and Texas.”
Arizona State is a school that has been recruiting Usher for a long time, and the Sun Devils continue to be strongly in the mix.
“Coach (Bobby) Hurley is a great coach and a legend. Then Coach (Rashon) Burno, I’ve known him since I was in eighth grade he is a family friend. Also I’ve known Anthony Coleman who they just hired for several years.”
Also USC just entered the mix and has come on extremely strong in this recruitment.
“USC is great,” noted Usher. “Coach (Jason) Hart is a real good dude. We talk every day. They just came on the scene but I can tell that is a real good situation.”
Recently Usher made an unofficial visit to Texas, and now he wants to get back to Austin for an official visit.
“Coach (Shaka) Smart is great. I took an unofficial there in June and it was great. It is a beautiful campus and a great basketball program, so I had a great time.”
Currently there is no specific timeframe for a decision from Usher, but he does plan to make official visits before coming to any kind of decision.
