Darius Bazley talks his new offers and recent visits

Cincinnati native Darius Bazley has a ton of upside, and college coaches are taking notice of him so far this July.

Class of 2018 prospect Darius Bazley is someone with unique ability. The 6-foot-7 forward brings a ton of versatility to the court. His skill and athleticism are definitely impressive, and with that more offers keep coming his way.

“I think I have played pretty well, but I know I can do a lot better,” said Bazley. “We have high expectations as a team, and I know I have to play as well as I can and show colleges what I can do to earn scholarships and things like that.”

He continued, “I’ve been trying to develop a more consistent outside shot, and also I have been focused on getting stronger by working in the weight room.”

On the recruiting trail recently a pair of high-major schools came forward with offers, and Bazley continues to draw significant attention.

“I have offers from Ohio State, Florida, St. Louis, and Toledo, listed Bazley. “Also I have interest from Dayton, Xavier, Purdue, West Virginia and Cincinnati.”

About the offer from Ohio State, Bazley said, “It felt good to get that offer. Coach (Thad) Matta called me in the office and said he was going to offer, and it gave me butterflies in my stomach. I never expected myself to be getting all this.”

He continued about the Buckeyes, “The thing I liked about the campus is like it is its own city. You have everything you need within the campus. Also it seems like the people around the community show Ohio State a lot of love.”

When it comes to Florida, Bazley said, “When I first got that offer I was stoked. Florida had never contacted me, so for them to see me play and offer me that was a big deal.”

While they haven’t offered yet, the school Bazley has been to the most is Xavier. Recently he attended team camp at Xavier, and continues to build a relationship with the coaches.

“Xavier sends a lot of mail, and this past season I went to several of their games,” said Bazley of Xavier. “I like the school a lot, and the coaches all seem like good guys.”

For now Bazley is working to refine his game and get better while also keeping one eye on the recruiting trail.
