Jermaine Samuels has stepped his game up all July long, and continued to play well at the Fab 48 in Las Vegas. Samuels, who is a highly athletic and competitive 6-foot-6 forward, continues to see his recruitment expand, and is going to soon start setting up visits.
“I am feeling good,” said Samuels of July. “I banged up my ankle, but I am feeling better now. I think I am playing harder than ever and making the right play. I am just doing what I can to help the team win.”
College coaches have packed their section watching Samuels and his Expressions Elite teammates all month long.
About his recruitment, Samuels said, “Xavier, Villanova, Duke has contacted me some, Tennessee, Indiana, just a bunch of schools.”
When it comes to the Musketeers, Samuels said, “They are a great program. They have been a top 20 team the past couple of years, and they have been on me every game this summer. The assistant coach will text me and then the head coach will text me, they have just kept in contact a lot.”
Villanova has long been considered a leader for Samuels. About the Wildcats, he said, “Everything is good with Villanova. They have been talking to me and keeping in contact, and obviously they are a great program coming off of a national championship.”
One of Samuels’ most recent offers came from Indiana, and the Hoosiers program is definitely one that he will consider.
“Tom Crean called me at Peach Jam and said he liked my game and that I can be a special player. He feels their program is the best at development, and that they could get me to where I want to be.”
In terms of the interest from Duke, he said, “They said that they aren’t going to offer yet, but they will keep looking at me. Basically they are telling me to earn my offer here.”
At this point Samuels says no visits are set in stone, but that could change very soon.
“Once this AAU stuff is done I am going to have a sit down with my family to discuss all the visits I want to take,” noted Samuels.
