Las Vegas: 2018 Race Thompson lists Minnesota, Marquette, Kansas State

LAS VEGAS – Minnesota native Race Thompson combined for 57 points in two games and hit a game winner to keep the D1 Minnesota 16’s in the hunt for an adidas Summer Championship on Saturday.

Evaluation Notes

The fourth day of the final July evaluation period was a good one for 2018 prospect Race Thompson.

Thompson, a 6-foot-7, strongly built forward, scored 30 and 27 points, plus hit a three at the buzzer to help D1 Minnesota 16’s advance in the adidas Summer Championship, in consecutive games.

What stood out about Thompson’s game was his versatility. Although he’s trending as a power forward, he’s able to score the ball in a variety of ways and from different spots on the floor.

Thompson has a good set of hands and nice touch around the basket. He can score with his back to the rim with hooks or back down defenders for strong, tough finishes. But he’s also capable of facing up for mid to long-range jump shots.

Thompson also impressed with his effort and energy. He went to the glass, pursued rebounds and played physical in the paint.
